Faceful Of Issues

Faceful Of Issues

This was Jo’s first show that was entirely one character*, Celia Jesson, inspired by the leading lady in Noel Coward and David Lean’s Brief Encounter film.

It premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2015, with The Stand, Assembly Rooms.

Supported onstage with heavy metal riffs and live adverts, by live musician Centre Partin’ Martin, this show was nominated for Best Show at Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival in Feb 2016. Celia and Centre Partin’ Martin took the show back to Leicester the following year because hardly anyone had seen it the first time, because although the show sold out at every performance, the venue was only small.

You can read reviews of this show (including the one from Leicester the year after the nomination) on our Press page

The show also was the first show where Jo did audience interaction*, with Celia interviewing an audience member at every show. Her gentle mocking and innocent rudeness drew pleasing comparisons with Dame Edna Everage. The show will be performed again in years to come, but for the time being, it’s been retired, as the costs of the live musician made it expensive to stage.

If you would like to book this show, it is possible but we’d need to talk about the musician.
